Lab-tested protection, gloss and easy cleaning for boats across Kitsap County

Advantages Of
Rocklear© Marine Coating

ICON Rocklear is a protective coating for paint and gelcoat. In ICON’s own lab tests it is up to 75x stronger than other coatings.

ICON designed it to protect, add gloss and restore depth in one system, so your boat does not need a stack of separate products.

Marine

In ICON’s testing, Rocklear lasted up to 300% longer than other coatings in salt and fresh water: no change after 1,000 hours, while the best professional ceramics lasted 350 hours or less. ICON backs marine gelcoat with a 7-year manufacturer’s warranty.

Ease Of Maintenance

The coating resists staining from algae and other waterborne grime, so cleaning your boat takes less time and you get more time on the water. No wax or polish is needed to keep the shine.

Just wash and go!

Scratch / Abrasion

ICON calls Rocklear its most scratch-resistant coating. Scratches that would ruin other coatings can be polished out or repaired by a certified installer, in many cases as a quick same-day job.

Up to 30% More Brilliance

In ICON’s tests Rocklear reflected 97% of light, up to 30% more brilliance than ceramic and graphene coatings.

Up to 35X Thickness

One application builds up to 2.5 mil (63 microns). ICON says that is up to 35 times thicker than ceramic or graphene coatings, and no clear coat or gelcoat has to be removed first.

Up to 20X UV Protection

ICON’s tests show up to 20 times more UV protection than ceramic coatings, with no change after 4,000 hours of intense UV and moisture.

Lab Tested Protection

ICON Rocklear began as a prototype in 2016. ICON says its Interlocking Coating Enforcement (ICE) technology is lab tested to protect in all road and weather conditions and is up to 75x stronger than other coatings, while it strengthens the finish without reducing your clear coat or gelcoat. Marine gelcoat applications carry ICON’s 7-year manufacturer’s warranty.

ICON Rocklear Marine Questions

What kind of boats can be coated?

ICON Rocklear Marine is made for gelcoat, the finish on most fiberglass boats, and for other watercraft. Tell us about your boat and its finish when you call, and we will confirm it is a good fit.

How long does ICON Rocklear Marine last?

ICON backs marine gelcoat with a 7-year manufacturer’s warranty. How it holds up in real life also depends on how the boat is used, where it is kept and how it is cleaned.

What does the warranty cover?

It is ICON’s manufacturer’s warranty, not a separate shop guarantee. It covers failures of the coating itself, such as loss of bond, premature fading, peeling, cracking and yellowing. Ask us for the full terms for your boat.

Do I still need to wax the boat?

No. ICON designed Rocklear so the shine does not depend on wax or polish. Rinse with fresh water after outings and wash with a boat soap, and the coating does the rest.

Will it stop algae and waterline staining?

It resists staining from algae and waterborne grime, so the hull and deck clean up much faster. It does not stop growth completely, and it is not a replacement for antifouling paint below the waterline.

How much does it cost?

Boats vary a lot in size and condition, so ICON Rocklear Marine is quoted per boat. Send us a few photos and the length of the boat, or call (916) 764-7018, and we will give you a straight answer.

Where is the boat work done?

Call us to plan the job, including where and when it is done. We serve boat owners across Kitsap County, from Poulsbo and Brownsville to Seabeck, Bremerton and Gig Harbor.

Can you coat the truck that tows it too?

Yes. See ICON Rocklear for cars and the truck coating page for tow vehicles.
