Interior Car Detailing in Silverdale, WA

Carpet, seats, panels and glass cleaned properly, with steam where it is needed.
Interior detailing from $250 at Word of Mouth Detailing.

What the Interior Detail Covers

The inside of a car takes more abuse than the paint. Wet boots, coffee, dog hair, crumbs in the seat rails, fingerprints on every screen. A quick vacuum at the gas station moves some of it around. An interior detail gets it out.

Our interior detail is a thorough cleaning of the whole cabin:

  • Carpet and floor mats
  • Seats
  • Interior panels, doors and dash
  • Windows, inside
  • Steam cleaning where the fabric or the grime needs it

Prices start at $250. Larger vehicles and very heavy soiling take longer, so we will tell you up front if your car needs more time than the starting price covers.

Interiors in a Wet Climate

Kitsap County interiors live through months of rain. Mud and grit come in on boots, beach sand works into the carpet, and damp mats that never fully dry start to smell. Steam helps here because it lifts grime out of fabric that a vacuum alone leaves behind.

One honest note. If the carpet keeps getting wet, the problem may be a door seal, a sunroof drain or a heater core, not dirt. A detail will clean it, but the damp will come back until the leak is fixed. If we spot signs of that, we will say so.

When an Interior Detail Makes Sense

  • Selling or trading in. A clean cabin is the first thing a buyer notices. The Sell My Car package adds an exterior wash and spray wax for that reason.
  • End of winter. Get the season’s mud, grit and damp out before it sets in.
  • Kids and pets. Crumbs, spills and hair build up fast. Mention pet hair when you book, because it takes extra time to do properly.
  • Bought a used car. Start fresh with someone else’s grime gone.
  • You just want it done. Monthly maintenance keeps the inside and outside looking right without you doing the work.

How a Proper Interior Detail Works

A good interior detail is done in an order, so clean areas do not get dirty again.

  1. Empty and inspect. Mats come out, and the cabin is checked for stains, odors and anything that needs special care.
  2. Dry debris first. Vacuuming and air work loosen the sand, crumbs and grit from seat rails, vents and the gaps around the console. Doing this first stops it turning into mud when the wet cleaning starts.
  3. Top down. Headliner spots, then dash, doors and panels, then seats, then carpet. Dirt falls, so the floor is done last.
  4. Steam where it helps. Steam lifts grime out of fabric and textured plastics that a cloth alone leaves behind.
  5. Glass last. The inside of the windows is cleaned at the end, so dust from the rest of the job does not settle on it.

Leather or Cloth Seats

The two need different handling. Cloth seats trap dirt deep in the weave, so they benefit most from steam and extraction, and they take time to dry, especially in a damp Kitsap winter. Leather seats should not be soaked. They need a gentle cleaner and a soft brush to lift dirt out of the grain, then wiping dry. Light leather shows dye transfer from jeans quickly; caught early, most of it comes off.

Tell us what your seats are when you book, along with anything you are worried about, such as a stain or a tear.

Child Seats, Pets and Sports Gear

Family cars collect the worst of it. Crumbs and spilled milk work under child seats, dog hair weaves into carpet, and wet sports gear leaves a smell that sits in the cabin. Please take child seats out before drop-off if you can; the area under them is often the dirtiest part of the car. Pet hair can be removed, but it is slow work, so let us know about it so enough time is set aside.

How Often to Book

For most drivers, a full interior detail once or twice a year is enough, with a good vacuum in between. Families with young kids or dogs often book more often. If you would rather not think about it at all, monthly maintenance detailing keeps the car right on a regular schedule.

Before You Drop the Car Off

  • Take out valuables, paperwork you need and personal items.
  • Remove child seats if you can.
  • Mention stains, smells, pet hair or anything delicate.
  • Tell us if a warning light or a leak is involved; a wet carpet may need a repair, not just a clean.

Interior Detailing Questions

How much does interior detailing cost?

Interior detailing starts at $250. An interior detail with an exterior wash starts at $300. Full details and monthly maintenance are priced by the vehicle, so call for those.

Can every stain come out?

Most fresh stains and general grime come out well. Old stains that have set for years, dye transfer from jeans on light seats, and burns can fade without disappearing completely. We will tell you what to expect when we see it.

Will it get rid of smells?

Cleaning removes the source of most smells: spilled food, damp carpet, dirty mats. Smoke that has soaked into the headliner and vents is harder, and a single detail may only reduce it.

Should I empty the car first?

Yes, please take out personal items, car seats and anything valuable. It means more time on cleaning and nothing gets lost.

Interior only, or a full detail?

If the paint is in good shape and the inside is the problem, interior only saves money. If both need attention, look at the full detailing packages. If you want the outside to stay clean longer, a ceramic coating is the next step.
